Ricotta meatballs with tomato sauce

These light and fluffy ricotta meatballs are made with a blend of ricotta cheese, ground beef, and Italian herbs. Served simmered in a homemade tomato sauce for a delicious and hearty meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups tomato sauce
  • Fresh basil for garnish

Directions

  • In a large bowl, combine ricotta cheese, ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, garlic, parsley, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  • Form the mixture into meatballs about 1 inch in diameter.
  • In a large skillet, heat a bit of oil over medium heat. Add meatballs and cook until browned on all sides.
  • Pour the tomato sauce over the meatballs in the skillet. Top with scoops of ricotta cheese. Cover and simmer for 20-25 minutes, until meatballs are cooked through.
  • Serve meatballs with sauce over pasta or on their own. Garnish with fresh basil.
